Kourabiedes is a famous cookie greeks make for christmas. It's a butter cookie made with or without almonds it is also sometimes made with brandy & sugar is added on top of the cookie.

ReplyDeleteThe one greek dish i found is called Melomakarona, which are honey and spice cookies. These cookies are a christmas tradition in Greece and are eaten during the holidays by greek families. The ingidients are:
1 1/2 cups of sunflower oil
1 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of fresh orange juice
1/4 cup of brandy (or 1 teaspoon of brandy flavoring)
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of fine-ground semolina
1 teaspoon baking soda
grated peel of 1 orange
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of grated cloves (or ground cloves)

ReplyDeleteingredients- ditalini (pasta), reduced-sodium chicken broth, olive oil, red wine vinegar, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt and ground black pepper, cooked cubed chicken, seeded and diced green bell pepper, chopped fresh mint leaves, and crumbled feta cheese.
cook the pasta. whisk the broth, oil, vinegar, mustard, thyme, and salt and pepper together. Add the chicken, green pepper, and mint. then drain the pasta and add it. Combine it by tossing. Sprinkle the feta cheese on top.

It is a fast food type of sandwich. It is a pita bread that u put lamb meat on top and a sauce made from yogurt.
One greek dish is called the Dolma. It is a dish that consists of many vetgetables, such as: zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, and peppers, rolled up in a grape leaf. Sometimes they contain meat, and if they do they are often served hot, unlike the vegetable ones served cold.

Fadwa , greek stuffed grape leaves are cooked grape leaves stuffed with rice and meat. They taste sour and are eaten eith sour yogurt. they cook the it in olive oil.

Valerie, Saganaki is a greek dish. It takes it's name from the pan in which it is in. It is basically cheese on a plate. The ingredients are, cheese, olive oil, lemons and flour.

galaktoboureko is a dessert made with phyllo dough either layered in a pan or rolled filled with a custard, the custard is sometimes flavored with lemon or orange. Unlike mille-feuille, the custard is baked with the pastry not added afterwards. its often served with a clear syrup.

Baklava is made out of phylolo pastry dough and is layered and has nuts on the top and middle of the pastry. It is very good with the glaze on top.

A dish i found is Beef & Mushroom Ragout. This recipe has lots of beef and veggies. to cook this you make it into a stew.

ReplyDeleteNew year's eve cake dissolve the yest in warm milk wait until its activated and starts to bubble at the sufface. Then add 3 tablespoons of flour and mix well to make a batter.
