International Projects

You have all completed your international research projects. For this blog post, I want you to explain to everyone else 3 things that you learned about your country that you found interesting. At least one of these interesting facts needs to be about food but the other two can be about anything related to your country. Make sure that you tell us what your country is! You should complete this post by Monday, April 6th at 4:00.

  1. Valerie---France--- One interesting fact I learned was that no matter where you stand on France you can never be more than 310 miles from a body of water. Another fact was that people there eat cheese and wine a lot in their diets. I also didn't know that the flag used to have uneven color stripes. Now the flag is evenly spaced blue, white and red.

  2. Jordan b. My country was Germany, lots of the recipies had brats in it. The weather is usually cool and wet there. They have been in lots of world wars. It has a big harbor and is borders by many other countries to trade with.

  3. My project was on Poland and i Learned that in poland they eat pigs knuckle Poland regained its independence in 1918 only to be overrun by Germany and the Soviet Union in World War II. Poland is one of the many contirs located in europre. .Famous dishes include poppy-seed cake, cabbage rolls (cabbage leaves stuffed with meat and rice), beetroot soup or borshch, a sauerkraut stew called bigos, and pierozki (dumplings stuffed with, for example, cabbage and mushrooms).

    My project was about Spain and I learned that Sapin was originally inhabited by Celts, Iberians, and Basques then it became a part of the Roman Empire in 206 B.C. when it was conquered by Scipio Africanus. Spain is very know for the flamenco music and dance. The paella is a famous dish in eastern regions of spain.

  6. I learned that in norway many of their beverages consist if vodka and many other aocholic stuff in them. Another thing is that eggnog pie is so good that we should make it one day. The final thing is that norwegins sure know how to use raindeer to make a good meal.

    The average italian consumes 1/2 a pound per day. Also Rome's nickname is "the eternal city" and the colors on the italian flags stand for:

    Green-Hope
    White-Faith

  8. My country was Poland and I learned that Pierogis can be eaten as an appetizer or as a desert, filled with vegetables or sweet fruits. I learned that the currency they use is the Zloty instead of the Euro. And they also are bordered by the Baltic sea so that is where they get alot of their seafood.

    -sushi is one of the most popular foods there.
    -they have both a prime minister and an emperor
    -they grow beets.

    A big percent of mexicans work on farms.
    They eat beans tortillas and peppers every day.

  11. I had ireland. Three things that were interesting about ireland was that they ae so religiour. They are roman catholic. also that they are so outgoing and community based. They love to be around people. Finally that there food is full of potatoes and involve either beef or pork

    1.) Sweden is the third largest country in European Union.
    2.) Sweden has a low population density with 20 people every 52 miles.
    3.)Sweden Cuisine is mostly made up of fish, meat, and potatoes.

  13. I had South Korea and I already almost everything I reaserched but one thing that I didn't know was that Koreans have Won coins and they use Kimchi for almost everything they eat and it most of your daily vitamins and minerals that you need.

  14. I had ireland. Three things that were interesting about ireland was that 1. ireland is the third-largest island in Europe. 2. There symbol would be the four leaf clover. 3.Traditional Irish Stew is one of the main dishes eaten in Ireland

    three interesting facts that i learned about france:
    -woman have a longer life expectancy then men.
    -the french have a different cheese for practically every day of the year.
    -in paris you are never more that 400 meters from a subway station.

  16. Spain

    I learned that spaniards use a great deal of olive oil in their cooking. They also have the sport of bullfighting there as well. They also have tapas bars which basically are appetizer bars where you can get small portioins of whatever you want.

    I did Greece. I learned that Greece has alot of foods in common with middle eastern food. They also use olives and olive oil in all almmost all their traditional food.the thrird thing i lesrned is that lamb is the primary meat eaten in Greece.

    my country was greece and i learned that they grow olives in greece and i also learned that they raise donkey and also learned that they use euros just like alot of other countries .

  19. I learned that the Swedes a very loyal to the vikinngs. They were the viking hats all the time. I also learned that their christmas fest contains a verity of cold foods & hot foods. The last thing I learned was that the swedes are lurthern & they believe the lurthern ways.

  21. jordan c.- my country was spain. Spanish food is heavily influenced by seafood. Spain has climate similar to ours. Spain has tons of cathedrals and other land marks.
