Germany / Poland

1. Research the history of Germany. How does that history influence their cuisine today?

2. Describe one famous dish in Poland. Explain the ingredients in this dish if there are any that are not used in the United States. DO NOT copy and paste a recipe here. You need to explain the recipe.

3. If you have ever been to Germany or Poland, explain some of the food that you ate there.

  1. i've been to germany once and when i was there i tried some pig knuckles and i tried some curry dogs and they were amazing it took awhile to make them but it was worth the wait.

  2. i've been to germany once and when i was there i tried some pig knuckles and they tasted alright and i also tried some curry dogs they were to hot and spicy that i needed at least two gallons of water.

  3. every region in germany is different food wise. In Bavaria and Swabia for instance has a lot in common with Switzerland and Ausria. Those foods consist of Pork, beef, and poultry mainly.
    All throughout Germany pork is the most popular meat to eat. Suasage is another very popular thing that was mostly eaten by people in winter months when is was easier to get.

  5. A famous polish dish is Kielbasa and Cabbage. The ingridients used in this dish are cabbage, onion, potatos, salt, caraway seed,kielbasa sausage,and chicken broth. Ingridients that are not commonly used in the USA would be kielbasa sausage and caraway seed. These are used more in traditonal polish foods. You put all ingidients in a crockpot, add chicken broth,and cook 2-4 hours. Enjoy!:P

  6. Fish and chips

    Pour all the vegetable oil into a deep pan or deep fat fryer, and heat to 300 degrees F (160 degrees C.) Blanch the cut potatoes in the oil until soft, but not colored, about 4 minutes. Remove and drain.

    Mix together the flour and the beer, then fold in the egg whites. Turn up the heat of the oil to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Dip the fish in the batter and fry for a few minutes with the chips until golden brown.

    Drain on kitchen paper and serve with bread and butter, wally's (battered, deep fried pickles served with ranch dressing), and pickled eggs.

  8. The Polish dish paczki is basically an American doughnut but better tasting. Paczki is most commonly eaten on Fat Tuesday in America, and on Fat Thursday in Poland. None of the ingrediants made in Paczki can not be found here in the States. All the ingrediants are relatively easy to obtain. They can be filled with many things from cream to jam or even fruits.

    1. It is believed that the romans were the first to make a important comment to the german's food. It is based on the latin licterature, mainly of meat and mead. the spreading of Christianity made a big impact in the culinary revival.

  10. I have been to Poland many times. While I was there I tried Bigos which is a hunters stew. It is very tasty and good to eat. I also had pork knuckle while I was there. It is ok I really didn't enjoy it that much but I wouldn't mind eatting it again.

    One dish i found in poland is called chłodnik. it is one of the cold soup we learned about. it is made with soured milk, young beet leaves, beets, cucumbers and chopped fresh dill. if is cooked right is sound like it could taste good.

    Pierogi is a famous polish dish. It is similar to a dumpling. It is boiled. It could be savory or sweet. Served with sour cream.

  13. Honey cake is a rich dessert cake with a chocolate glaze that everybody loves. Stored in a cool place, it will stay fresh for a long time. with only honey,strong coffee,vegetable oil,ground cinnamon,ground cloves,ground nutmeg for ingredients you can create this amazing cake.First you make the batter and slowly combine the ingrdients together. After that you bake for 45 to 55 min and let it cool for 15 min.

  14. A famous Polish dish is pierogi. They are made of a dough then are filled with a varity of fillings. Some of these fillings could be potatoes, meats, cheeses, or mushrooms. They can either be boiled or fryed in a pan with some butter.

    A famous dish in Poland is the golabki.It is made of cabbage leaves. The leaves are stuffed with ground meat and rice. You put rice ,butter ,ground beef ,ground pork ,egg ,slices bacon ,concentrated tomato soup in it.

  16. Germany is a meat loving country. They are often associated with sausage, pork, or other meats. They are also known for thier beer or ale. Germany influences the cuisine of many of the countries surrounding it and even countries as far off as the USA.
